Dear Yuletide 2020 Author

this is a work in progress, sorryyyyyyy

As a repeat of the DNWs, I'm not usually a fan of mpreg, incest, or any shade of non-con, & would prefer if none of the above were included in whichever story it is you choose to write.
I love an AU, am down for snark & sniping, truly appreciate the casually absurd, have lost all personal respect for myself for getting so thoroughly into A Sport recently, and love to suffer in the most Gothic way possible. Take everything as an example, late-night spit-balling, garbled attempts to express an appreciation of miserably oblivious idiots, etc etc.
Anyhow, let's do this.

The Devil's West - Laura Anne Gilman
Gabriel Kasun, Isobel née Lacoyo Távora
blah blah blah
~
The Locked Tomb Trilogy | Gideon the Ninth Series- Tamsyn Muir
Gideon Nav, Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Camilla Hect
Don't you just love it when authors give terrible, terrible people senses of humor & access to several brands of Sword(TM)? I had a great time reading this book, & adored Harrow & Gideon's barbed interactions plus Camilla's mousey badassery. I'd love some expansions of the canon's lore, some sniping (are you sensing a theme?), you know. Late night me (it's midnight rn) really wants to impress upon you the hilarity of this plot being transposed onto that of The Bachelor/ette. Ignore me.
(P.S. if ships are a concern, Harrow/Gideon sounds bueno)

Tuesday Mooney Talks To Ghosts - Kate Racculia
Tuesday Mooney, Dorry Bones, Abby Hobbes
blah blah blah
~
Teixcalaan Series - Arkady Martine
Mahit Dzmare, Three Seagrass, Nineteen Adze
blah blah blah
~
魔道祖师 | Módào Zǔshī (Cartoon)
Wèi Yīng | Wèi Wúxiàn (MDZS Cartoon), Lán Zhàn | Lán Wàngjī (MDZS Cartoon)
They are both? So dumb? & I? Love it? Love to see some shenanigans, some exasperation, some willfully ignorant pining, it's all good. This series was sold to me as "people exorcising demons through the power of traditional Chinese folk music", & I'd love to see that translated very seriously & very earnestly to some equivalent of, say, your "Cotton Eyed Joe". Lan Clan very aloofly arrives to the local Hell Spot & solemnly plays an utterly unironic "Achy Breaky Heart". Go AU. Whatever you want.
(P.S. if ships are a concern, I am...very clearly down for these nerds to bang. Thank You.)

Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch
Thomas Nightingale, Peter Grant (Rivers of London), Beverley Brook, Sahra Guleed
I love...a team. Especially a team of very competent people being very good at their jobs even if they are very bad at being people. That's not this series, per se, but I think I'm driving at the hidden edges around each character: Nightingale's pre-series service, Bev's layer-on-layer nature of not-quite-human, Sahra's...everything, Peter's deep architectural appreciation(?), etc etc. Just go off, I guess, present us all with an absurd situation & watch where the pieces fall.
(P.S. if ships are a concern, Nightingale/Peter/Bev is my snack of choice)

Thank you so much for signing up this year, & I hope you have fun with whatever you choose to write!
