Hello, and thank you for participating in Yuletide this year. Below are some thoughts, noodles, and opinions about the fandoms and characters requested, which you are free to take or leave as you will, outside of the DNWs.

As a note, the Yuletide reveal season itself is one stuffed full of unfortunate anniversaries and various miseries for me IRL, none of which should affect you or what you choose to write. However, it is my paltry excuse for why my expression of appreciation once the day comes may be...significantly delayed. My apologies as far in advance as I could make them.

I love an AU, am down for snark & sniping, truly appreciate the casually absurd, have lost all personal respect for myself for getting so thoroughly into A Sport recently, and love to suffer in the most Gothic way possible. Take everything as an example, late-night spit-balling, garbled attempts to express an appreciation of miserably oblivious idiots, etc etc.

Do Not Wants

As stated, I'm not usually a fan of mpreg, incest, or any shade of non-con, & would prefer if none of the above were included in whichever story it is you choose to write.

Requests

Fandom: The Bone Orchard - Sara A. Mueller
Chatacters: Pain, Charm, Captain Oram

This is such a weird little book and an odd little world. I forgot the worldbuilding tag was a thing, otherwise I'd have tried to nominate it for this. Pain and Charm's relationship, the parts and aspects of themselves that they are and aren't, the way Captain Oram is both a you and a we, it's an interesting puzzle around what makes us ourselves and how much of that we can put aside until we're lost.

I'd love to see: some thoughts on Charm's homeland, on how things shake out after the events of the book, some of Pain and Captain Oram's relationship building further, etc.

Fandom: Nettle & Bone - T. Kingfisher
Chatacters: Dust-wife

Love a weird old lady who lives in the hills with nought but a demon chicken for company. Very Baba Yaga of her.

I'd love to see: how did the Dust-wife come to be there, what does it mean to be married to dust, how did she get the chicken, which other poor princess nuns has she toppled a kingdom with, why these impossible tasks, etc.

Fandom: The Princess (2022)
Characters: Princess, Linh

This is a very stupid movie, one during which I spent forever thinking Dominic Cooper was someone else. But the idea of a bottle-battle (shades of Dr. Seuss there) is a compelling one, especially with the odds as stacked as they are. It reminds me of Tamsyn Muir's Floralinda, almost.

Feel free to name the princess, by the way, I know it's clunky.

I'd love to see: more of the princess and Linh training and growing up together, Linh's homelife, the reality of the kingdom outside the walls of the tower, the fallout from the invasion, the Queen's reasoning for allowing her daughter to train clandestinely, etc.

Fandom: What Moves the Dead - T. Kingfisher
Characters: Angus, Eugenia Potter, Alex Easton

What a fun little redeux of a classic piece of literature.

I'd love to see: some more of Alex's time in the war, some of Eugenia's journal, Angus' perspective on what's happening, etc.

Fandom: Alpha and Omega - Patricia Briggs
Characters: Worldbuilding (Alpha and Omega - Patricia Briggs), Leah Cornick

Ah, Leah. What a fantastic bitch of a woman. Truly loved the focus on her and her backstory this time around the ol' book train, and would appreciate some more of that, please and thanks. Have fun. Be mean.

For worldbuilding, feel free to get weird with format.

I'd love to see: Leah and Bran are...strained, at best. Be tense; Leah, on an icily competent visit to Wal-Mart; Show the gap between utter disaster and Bran finding Leah. Give an excerpt of a research paper on Briggs' concept of the supernatural, a snippet of a medieval saga about something that sounds very like Bran, etc.

Fandom: The Legend of Vox Machina (Cartoon)

Characters: Percival "Percy" de Rolo III, Vex'ahlia, Vax'ildan

We stan a band of idiots who are just smart enough to be extremely dangerous. Percy's rich boy trauma, Vex's inferiority complex, Vax's acid tongue, chef's kiss. Catnip to a connoisseur such as myself.

I have read the origin comics and listened to most of campaign one, in case you want to include any non-show details, but also: make shit up as you please.

I'd love to see: some days off, their initial meeting, a Trinket spa day, an AU of...something, some absurdity.

If you're feeling shippy, I am a fan of a love angle in this respect, with Percy in the middle.
